Stacey finishes 11th in state

New Palestine diver Colin Stacey is headed to the IHSAA boys swimming and diving State Finals after placing second at Tuesday’s diving regional at Plainfield. Stacey finished with an 11-dive score of 446.25. He was runner-up to Cascade’s Brendan Trent, who scored 466.00. The top eight divers from the regional qualify for the State Finals.

Stacey wins sectional title; swimmers finish fourth

New Palestine diver Colin Stacey claimed a sectional championship, leading the Dragons to a fourth-place finish in Saturday’s IHSAA boys swimming sectional at NPHS. Boys swimmers advance to sectional finals

The New Palestine boys swimming team advanced 11 qualifiers to the sectional finals from Thursday’s preliminaries. Saturday’s sectional will begin with diving at 9 a.m., followed by the swimming and diving finals at 1 p.m. at the NPHS natatorium. NP advanced two swimmers to the final heat in three events. The New Palestine boys swim team went 1-1 in a triple-dual meet Monday with Roncalli and Greenwood. The Dragons lost a close meet 91-84 to Roncalli, but beat Greenwood 100-76. The New Palestine swim teams celebrated Senior Night with dual victories Thursday, as the Dragons swept Connersville in two close meets. The Dragon girls won 97-88, while the NP boys won 98-84. SCHEDULE CHANGE: Swimming at WC moved to Friday

The Warren Central swimming invitational has been moved to Friday due to the forecast for inclement weather. The New Palestine swim teams will compete in the invitational, which begins at 6 p.m. Friday. The invitational was initially scheduled for Saturday.
