Prepare for the 2022-23 sports season by meeting our coaches. First, meet girls golf coach Sarah O'Brien This is my 4th year as head coach of our girls golf team. I also was an assistant under Gregg Greene for two years prior to taking over. I was also golf coach at Connersville High School (my first teaching position) for five years in the early/mid 90s. Alma mater: I am a proud graduate of Connersville High School and Michigan State University. I also attended Ball State for my secondary teacher certification and to complete CTE graduate courses. Current position: Business teacher, NPHS (starting year 11) Twitter/teacher - @NPHS_OBrien & @New_Pal_Golf Athletics in high school/college: I played two years of tennis in high school and four years of golf. I also played four years (golf) at Michigan State University. Why I coach: Sports give kids so many great opportunities to learn so many great life lessons. I learned a great deal about myself and the kind of person I wanted to be from my involvement in sports as a young person. I want to give our students the same opportunity to have those experiences. Best things about coaching: 2 things...No. 1 - watching a player grow and be successful and No. 2 - the feeling of pride I have in players who represent our school in a first-class way Best moment: Winning the HHC championship in 2019 What I love most about the New Palestine community: Support, support, support--that's what I love most about our community and NPHS staff Best moments from college/high school: Two year team qualifiers for state tournament in high school; golf trips in college--SO MUCH FUN, and we go to play some great courses and visit some great places. Show you're binge-watching: No binge watching...but I do watch my fair share of the golf channel and HGTV! Family: Husband Jeff (married 31 years), son Ben (26) - 2014 NPHS grad, daughter Carrie (24) - 2017 NPHS grad Favorite food: Most any kind of cookie (no raisins please) Favorite vacation spot: Anything near lake/ocean and a golf course Favorite thing to do in my spare time: Travel, play golf, learn something new
