Girls CC finishes 2nd in HHC; boys 6th

The New Palestine girls cross country team narrowly missed a Hoosier Heritage Conference title Saturday, finishing two places back of champion Greenfield-Central in the HHC meet at the Blue River course in Shelbyville. The Dragons tallied 50 places to G-C's 48, finishing second. Mt. Vernon (87) and Pendleton Heights (92). rounded out the top four. The Dragons had four All-HHC runners. Hailey Pardieck was fourth overall (19:37.40). Elena Daugherty was fifth (20:12.60), Adi Smith ninth (20:58.44) and Abby Journay 10th (21:03.3). Brynn Richey was 22nd (22:10.22). The Dragons boys were sixth with 141 places. Yorktown (34), Pendleton Heights (83) and Mt. Vernon (86) took the top three spots. The Dragons had one All-HHC runner in Mike Bauer, who finished eighth in 16:46.34. Carson Cooper was 21st (17:33.20), Zion Koch 38th (18:18.98), Gabe Silvey 39th (18:20.42) and Micah Jones 41st (18:29.30). The Dragons next compete Oct. 4 in the Nike Town Twilight invitational at the LaVern Gibson course in Terre Haute.
