Rossell returning to State Finals

New Palestine senior Jack Rossell clinched his second straight trip to the IHSAA State Finals Thursday by finishing third in the pole vault at the Greenfield-Central regional. Rossell cleared 13-8 to earn his State Finals berth. As a team, the Dragons scored 13 points and finished 11th out of 26 teams that scored. The Dragons also got a stellar performance from the 4x800 relay of Daniel Davis, Jake Cooper, Conner Lapenta and Cody Crawmer, which completed its race in 8:12.62 and were five seconds shy of a State Finals berth. Also scoring for the Dragons were James O'Dell, who was eighth in the 300 hurdles (41.73). The 4x100 relay of O'Dell, Eian Roudebush, David Pack and Isaiah Thacker placed eighth (44.19). Also competing were Crawmer, who was ninth in the 800 (2:02.62), Thacker, who was 11th in the 200 (23.62), and the 4x400 relay of Pack, Lapenta, Crawmer and Dylan Dragoo, which was 10th (3:34.14). Sage Halter also competed in the pole vault. Rossell will compete at 3 p.m. Friday, June 2 in the State Finals at Indiana University in Bloomington.
