Wes Stiller homered twice and three Dragons combined on a two-hitter Monday as the New Palestine baseball team beat Indian Creek 7-2. The game - which was a late addition to the schedule - concluded the regular season for both teams. The Dragons finished 19-9. Stiller drove in five runs with his two homers. He hit a two-run shot in the first and a three-run blast in the fifth. Blaine Nunnally, Brayden Marrow and Rigg Mahurin combined on the victory. Nunnally pitched three hitless innings and struck out five, allowing one unearned run, to earn the victory. Marrow pitched two scoreless, hitless frames, striking out two. Mahurin fanned two and allowed two hits and one run in two innings. Stiller's two-homer day led an eight-hit attack. Wyatt Mathies was 2-for-3. Nic Deering was 1-for-2 with two runs. Jacob Morris was 1-for-3. Jack Anderson and Nolan Cox were each 1-for-1. Deering singled ahead of Stiller's homer to right in the first, giving the Dragons an early 2-0 lead. Indian Creek scored in the bottom of the first on two walks, a passed ball and a groundout. The Dragons added two runs in the second. Jackson Kamp reached on an error. Mathies followed with a single. A pair of errors on the same play brought both runs home, putting the Dragons up 4-1. In the fifth, Nunnally and Deering both walked ahead of Stiller's three-run blast to right. After a 19-win regular season, the Dragons now turn their focus to sectional play. They open Thursday at Mt. Vernon against Muncie Central.
