The New Palestine baseball team dropped its home finale Wednesday, as New Castle rallied from an early deficit to beat the Dragons 3-2. The Dragons are now 18-8 with one regular season game left. They finish HHC play with a 9-5 record. The Dragons took a lead in the first inning with a two-out rally. Wes Stiller, Jacob Morris and Blaine Nunnally had back-to-back singles to drive in a run. In the third, Stiller again singled, went to second on a balk and scored on Morris' base hit. New Castle responded with a pair of runs in the fourth on one hit, an error and a runner reaching on a dropped third strike. The Trojans took the lead in the fifth on a triple followed by a one-out single through a drawn-in infield. The Dragons threatened in the sixth and seventh innings, leaving runners in scoring position, but were unable to score against New Castle starter Gavin Frazier, who struck out nine in a complete-game win. Brayden Marrow had a strong start, striking out 10 and allowing three hits and two earned runs. Rigg Mahurin came on in the seventh and struck out the side. Stiller was 2-for-4 and scored both runs. Morris was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Nunnally was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Ben Hirschy 1-for-3. The Dragons finish the regular season Thursday at Greenwood.
