The New Palestine girls tennis team dropped a tight 3-2 match Tuesday to Mt. Vernon in the opening round of the Mt. Vernon sectional. The Dragons finish the season with a 14-8 record. The Dragons' No. 1 doubles duo of Bethany Blachly and Josephine Harvey will advance in the individual tournament, as they won a three-set 7-6(10), 2-6, 6-1 match. The Dragons' other victory came from Kaitlyn Mitchell at No. 2 singles, as she won 6-1, 6-4. Olivia Hasenkamp dropped a 6-1, 6-1 match at No. 1 singles. Mia Knoop fell 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3. At No. 2 doubles, Maddy Potter/Emily Appleby fell 6-1, 6-2.
