Boys track places fourth in HHC

The New Palestine boys track and field team finished fourth in Thursday's Hoosier Heritage Conference meet at Mt. Vernon. The Dragons scored 74.6 points to finish fourth. Mt. Vernon (166), Greenfield-Central (142) and Delta (96) took the top three spots. The Dragons finished ahead of Yorktown (74), Pendleton Heights (43.2), Shelbyville (17.6) and New Castle (8.6). Jack Rossell was the Dragons' top individual finisher, placing second in the pole vault at 13-0. Isaiah Thacker finished third in the 100 (11.18) and fourth in the 200 (23.05). Cody Crawmer had a pair of fourth-place finishes, in the 800 (2:03.52) and 1600 (4:34.42). Ian Moore was fourth in shot put (44-0). Eian Roudebush was fourth in high jump (5-8). James O'Dell was fourth in the 300 hurdles (42.14) and fifth in the 110 hurdles (16.99). He was also seventh in long jump (18-7.75). In the 400, Dylan Dragoo was fifth (52.67) and Ian Erwin seventh (54.65). Danny Davis was seventh in the 800 (2:05.17). Colton Spears tied for seventh in the high jump (5-4). The Dragons' 4x400 relay of Cody Crawmer, Connor Lapenta, David Pack and Dragoo finished third in 3:32.98. The 4x800 relay of Lapenta, Charlie Rigsbee, Brendan Tanksley and Davis also finished third (8:37.6). The 4x100 relay of O'Dell, Roudebush, Sage Halter and Thacker placed fifth (44.37), running the eighth-fastest time in school history. The Dragons next compete May 18 in the sectional at Greenfield-Central.
