Tennis beats Whiteland on Senior Night

The New Palestine tennis team won a tight 3-2 match over Whiteland Thursday on the Dragons' Senior Night, with two matches going to super-tiebreakers. The Dragons earned two wins, as senior Olivia Hasenkamp won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and senior Courtney Johnson won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. At No. 2, senior Mia Knoop played a marathon match and dropped a 7-6, 6-4 decision. Both doubles matches went the distance. At No. 1, Bethany Blachly/Josephine Harvey rallied after a tough first set but fell 6-0, 5-7, 10-6 in a super-tiebreaker. With the match tied 2-2, seniors Maddy Potter and Alyssa Kauchak won a 7-5, 5-7, 10-8 match at No. 2 doubles to clinch the victory for the Dragons. The Dragons are now 13-7 on the season. They next play Friday at Pendleton Heights. The Dragons won the JV match 7-6. Winners were Kaitlyn Mitchell, Tori Pieratt, Amelia Schneider/Kenzie Kleiman, Megan Ramsey/Rachel Wright (twice), Allyson White/Mya Faubion and Maizy Haynes/Pieratt.
