Golf three-peats as HHC champion

The New Palestine girls golf team won its third consecutive Hoosier Heritage Conference championship Saturday, led by Lauren Deering's school record 67. The Dragons shot 329, beating second-place Mt. Vernon by 13 strokes. Yorktown (348) was third. Deering won the individual title for the second consecutive year. She shot 34 on the front nine and 33 on the back to repeat as champion, winning by five strokes. Katie Kelley shot an even-par 72 for her career-best. She shot 36 on each nine, and finished third overall for All-Conference honors. Matti Tiede-White shot 93 and Carlee Poorbaugh 97. Tessa Mohr's 99 was the fifth score. The Dragons are next in action Monday against Pendleton Heights for Senior Night.
