Tennis drops tight match to conference foe

The New Palestine girls tennis team had three ultra-tight matches Monday in a 5-0 loss at Mt. Vernon. At No. 2 singles, Kaitlyn Mitchell was one of two Dragons to go three sets. She dropped a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 decision. At No. 2 doubles, the Dragons' duo of Maddy Potter/Emily Appleby also went three sets, falling in a third-set tiebreaker 7-5, 5-7, 7-6(4). Mia Knoop also had a tight 7-5, 7-5 loss at No. 3 singles. At No. 1 doubles, Bethany Blachly/Josephine Harvey fell 6-3, 6-2, while Olivia Hasenkamp dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 1 singles. The Dragons JV won 8-4. Courtney Johnson, Maizy Haynes, Sophie Munson, Amelia Schneider/Kenzie Kleiman, Alyssa Appleby/Ellie Armstrong, Lauryn Hulet/Barb Palau, Audrey Inskeep/Addison Koch and Allyson White/Mya Faubion all won. The Dragons are now 12-6 on the season. They are back in action Tuesday at Greensburg.
