CC competes at Marion

The New Palestine cross country teams competed Saturday in one of the state's biggest meets, the Marion Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University. The Dragons boys finished 14th in the 14-team elite division race, with 345 places. Northridge (72), Lawrence North (81) and Fort Wayne Concordia (106) took the top three spots. Mike Bauer led the Dragons with a 29th-place finish (16:33.3). Carson Cooper was 67th (17:34.0), Hayden Flanagan 91st (17:58.7), Gabe Silvey 103rd (18:18.4) and Cody Lowe 107th (18:23.7). The Dragons girls finished 10th out of 13 teams in the elite division, with 273 places. Fort Wayne Concordia (38), Homestead (54) and Westfield (90) took the top three spots. Abby Journay led the Dragons with a 45th-place finish (20:09.3). Adi Smith was 46th (20:18.6), Elena Daugherty 55th (20:34.5), Brynn Richey 89th (21:39.6) and Heidi Bloomer 90th (21:39.8). The Dragons are next in action Sept. 13 at the Whiteland Invitational.
