Senior Wes Stiller drove in seven runs Tuesday, helping lead the New Palestine baseball team to its seventh straight victory with a 9-0 triumph over Delta. Senior Blaine Nunnally threw a three-hit shutout on the mound and was one of three Dragons to go 3-for-3 at the plate. Nunnally struck out nine Eagles in the complete-game victory. Stiller hit a two-run single in the first to get the Dragons on the board, added a sacrifice fly in the second, a run-scoring single in the fourth and capped the day with a three-run homer in the sixth. The top three batters in the order all went 3-for-3. Nunnally scored three runs and drew a walk. Ben Morwick scored twice and drove in a run. The Dragons had 12 hits total, as Jacob Morris was 1-for-3, Adam Rickey 1-for-2 with an RBI double and Jackson Kamp 1-for-3. The top of the order got things going in the first, as Nunnally and Morwick led off with back-to-back singles and both scored on Stiller's hard grounder into rightfield. Rickey's double would plate Ben Hirschy - who reached on a forceout earlier in the frame - to give NP an early 3-0 lead. The Dragons added on in the second, as Nick Deering reached on an error and Nunnally singled. Morwick's base hit brought home Deering and moved Nunnally to third, where he would score on Stiller's sacrifice fly to put the Dragons up 5-0. In the fourth, Nunnally walked, stoke second and scored on Stiller's single to extend the lead to 6-0. In the fifth, the Dragons put the first two batters on base, but were unable to score. In the seventh, Nunnally and Morwick again led off with singles. This time, Stiller cleaned the bases with a three-run homer to right. The Dragons improved to 12-5 with their seventh straight victory. They are now 5-4 in Hoosier Heritage Conference play. The Dragons and Eagles will rematch Wednesday at Delta.
