Girls track seventh, boys eighth at Zionsville

The New Palestine track and field teams began the big meet portion of their schedule Friday at the Zionsville Invitational. The Dragons girls finished seventh of 10 teams with 46 points, while the boys finished tied for eighth with 17 points. Brownsburg won both meets, scoring 118 in the girls meet and 181 in the boys. For the Dragons girls, Quin Lumbley finished second in shot put with a distance of 40-1 and 10th in discus (101-5). Sydney Miller was fifth in discus (122-1) and ninth in shot put (35-11). Abby Journay was sixth in high jump (5-0) and seventh in the 200 (27.00). Rylee Hurst finished eighth in the 400 (1:01.94). Taylor Burke was 10th in the 100 hurdles (17.73). The Dragons finished fifth in the 4x400 relay (4:14.63), eighth in the 4x100 and ninth in the 4x800. For the Dragons boys, Sage Halter placed fourth in the pole vault (14-0). Cody Crawmer was seventh in the 800 (1:59.27). The Dragons' 4x400 relay of Jake Cooper, Crawmer, Connor Lapenta and Dylan Dragoo were also seventh (3:32.79). Dragoo was 10th in the 400 (54.14). Cooper was 10th in the 800 (2:00.42). James O'Dell was seventh in the 300 hurdles (43.53) and ninth in the 110 hurdles (17.15).
