Boys tennis finishes third at Noblesville

The New Palestine boys tennis team finished third in its group in Saturday's Noblesville Invitational. The Dragons went 1-2 on the day. In the opening match, the Dragons beat Evansville Memorial 3-2. Carson Rush won 6-4, 3-6, 10-4 at No. 1 singles, while No. 3 singles Brock Hehmann won 6-2, 6-4. Jackson Clark/Davis Harrison won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles. Tyler Walter fell 3-6, 6-1, 10-5 at No. 2 singles, while Luke Bartusek/Gavin Berry lost 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. In the day's second match, the Dragons fell 5-0 to Noblesville. Rush (6-1, 6-4), Walter (6-1, 6-0), Hehmann (6-1, 6-3), J.P. Peterson/Jacob Kleine (6-0, 6-1) and Harrison/Jack Hehmann (6-1, 6-4) all fell. In the day's final match, the Dragons fell 4-1 to Chesterton. Jack Hehmann/Jackson Clark won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. Brock Hehmann (6-0, 6-0), Jace Gaines (6-0, 6-0), James Perry (6-0, 6-4) and Bartusek/Berry (7-5, 6-2) all fell in straight sets. The Dragons are now 4-6 on the season. They next play Tuesday at Waldron.
