The New Palestine baseball team used a stellar start from Blaine Nunnally and a nine-run sixth inning Tuesday to power a 13-1 six-inning victory over host Greenfield-Central. The Dragons improved to 9-5 overall and 3-4 in Hoosier Heritage Conference play with their fourth straight victory. The two teams will meet again Wednesday afternoon at NPHS. Nunnally allowed five hits and one earned run over six innings, striking out seven, to earn the complete-game win. At the dish, Wes Stiller homered and drove in three runs, while four other players had two hits each. The Dragons threatened in the first, but took the lead in the second when Adam Rickey walked and Wyatt Mathies followed with a base hit. Both scored on Nick Deering's two-run double. G-C scored in the bottom of the frame, but the Dragons quickly responded when Stiller hit a 3-1 pitch over the rightfield fence to lead off the third with a solo homer. The Dragons maintained a two-run lead into the fifth, when Morwick singled, moved to third on an errant pickoff throw and scored on Stiller's RBI groundout. In the sixth, Rickey led off with a bunt single. Jackson Kamp was hit by a pitch and Deering hit a bunt single to load the bases. Nunnally drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Another walk loaded the bases, and Stiller forced in a run by drawing a walk on a 3-2 pitch. Ben Hirschy followed with a two-run single to put NP up 8-1. A passed ball brought home another run. Rickey, batting for the second time in the inning, followed with a two-run single. Mathies drove in another run with a single. A passed ball brought home the ninth run of the frame. Four players had two hits. Rickey was 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Mathies was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Deering was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBI. Morwick was 2-for-3 with two runs. Hirschy was 1-for-3 with a run and two RBI.
