The New Palestine baseball team won its third straight game Monday, beating visiting Knightstown 7-2. Adam Rickey had a big game at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and two runs scored, while Chase Ankney nailed down the game with four hitless, scoreless relief innings to earn the win. The Dragons surrendered two runs in the top of the third, but then responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. Rickey led off with a triple and scored on Ben Morwick's line-drive single to left. A pair of walks loaded the bases, where Jacob Morris tied the game with a single to right. After a wild pitch plated a run, Brock Whitaker extended the lead to 4-2 with an RBI infield hit. Blaine Nunnally walked and scored in the fourth to add another run. In the sixth, Rickey led off with a double and moved to third on Nunnally's bunt single. Ben Morwick's sacrifice fly plated Rickey. Nunnally stole second, moved to third on Morwick's flyout and scored on a groundout by Wes Stiller. The Dragons allowed two hits and no earned runs in the game. Henry Thorpe fanned four in three innings to start the game. Ankney fanned four in his four innings of relief. Rickey's three hits led the Dragons' nine-hit attack. Nunnally was 1-for-3 with a run and two RBI. Ben Hirschy was 1-for-2 with a run. Morris and Whitaker were each 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jackson Kamp was 1-for-3. The Dragons are now 8-5 on the season. They next play Tuesday at Greenfield-Central.
