Girls tennis claims county crown

For the first time since 2009, the New Palestine girls tennis team is a Hancock County champion. The Dragons won three individual titles to claim the county championship by a 26-23 score over Mt. Vernon. Greenfield-Central had nine points and Eastern Hancock two. Olivia Hasenkamp won the No. 1 singles county title with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Mt. Vernon's Regan Ralstin in the title match. At No. 2 singles, Kaitlyn Mitchell won a tight 6-4, 7-5 match over MV's Ava Lusby to clinch the county championship. Bethany Blachly and Josephine Harvey also won the title at No. 1 doubles by a 6-3, 7-5 score to clinch the championship, while Maddy Potter/Alyssa Kauchak were runners-up at No. 2 doubles. Courtney Johnson finished third at No. 3 singles. The Dragons also won the junior varsity championship. Dragons results Championship round 1S - Olivia Hasenkamp def.
