Girls track sweeps Rushville, Connersville; boys second

The New Palestine track and field teams swept a triangular meet Tuesday at Connersville. The Dragons girls won with 89.5 points, beating Connersville (45.5) and Rushville (32). The boys were second in a tight meet, scoring 60 points to fall to Connersville (63.5) and beat Rushville (43.5). Courtney Study was a double-winner for the Dragons in the 800 (2:38.13) and 1600 (5:50.72). Taylor Burke was also a double-winner in the 100 hurdles (18.06) and 300 hurdles (52.33). Abby Journay won two events - the 400 (1:01.6) and high jump (4-10). Also winning for the Dragons girls were Cami Massari in the 3200 (12:53.02), Sydney Miller in discus (125-8), Quin Lumbley in the shot put (39-5) and the 4x400 relay. Individuals placing second for the Dragons girls were Journay in the 100, Rylee Hurst in the 200, Tylar Whitaker in the 1600, Amelia Stone in the 3200, Alaina Doran in the 100 hurdles, Kayla Rieman in the high jump, Rebecca Johnson in pole vault and Lumbley in discus. Isaiah Thacker was a double-winner for the Dragons boys in the 100 (11.17) and 200 (22.92). Jake Cooper won the 800 (2:06.19) and 1600 (4:35.45). Also winning were Dylan Dragoo in the 400 (53.36), Sage Halter in the pole vault (14-0) and the 4x400 relay (3:36.42). Finishing second was Cody Crawmer in the 800 and 1600.
