Pair earns track State Finals spots

Eli Wasson and Quinn Crawmer each earned spots in the IHSAA State Finals, as they finished well in Thursday's IHSAA Lawrence Central boys track and field regional. They will compete in the IHSAA State Finals June 6 at the Indiana University Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex in Bloomington. Wasson ran the 200 in 21.87 seconds to place third and advance. Crawmer was the runner-up in the pole vault, with a height of 14-6. They lead a Dragons delegation that scored 30 points and finished eighth in one of the state's deepest regional fields. Also scoring for the Dragons was the 4x800 relay of Gavin Smith, Mike Bauer, Charlie Rigsbee and Jake Cooper, who finished fourth in 7:59.07. Cooper was also fourth in the 800 (1:58.16). Paxton Holmes was sixth in the 110 hurdles (14.96) and Bauer sixth in the 1600 (4:32.54). Wasson also competed in the 100, where he was 12th. Holmes was 12th in the 300 hurdles. Colton Spears was 12th in the high jump. Ryan Cain finished 15th in pole vault. The 4x100 relay of Holmes, Wasson, Will Bardonner and Spears was 11th.
