Halter breaks own record, Journay & Miller win at Chatard

Sage Halter broke his own school record and Sydney Miller won the shot put and discus Saturday at the Chatard Invitational track and field meet. Abby Journay also won the 200 meter dash for the Dragons. The Dragons boys finished fourth of four teams with 36.5 points, finishing behind Chatard (83), West Lafayette (73.5) and Cathedral (51). The Dragons girls also finished fourth with 30 points, finishing behind Chatard (89), Cathedral (60) and West Lafayette (50). Halter broke his record with a 14-6 vault, finishing second. James O'Dell was third in both the 110 and 300 hurdles. Dylan Dragoo plced fourth in the 400. Cody Crawmer was third in the 1600. Placing fourth were Brock Brownfield in the shot put, Quinn Crawmer in pole vault, Jake Cooper in the 1600 and 3200 and Cody Crwmer in the 800, Miller's shot put was 34-5, winning by two and a half feet. In the discus, she threw 122-6, winning by nearly 21 feet. In the 200, Journay ran 27.23, beating the field by .37 seconds. Rylee Hurst was the runner-up in the 100, running it in 12.99 - 0.12 seconds off the winning time. Placing third were Rebecca Johnson in pole vault and Journay in high jump. Alaina Doran finished fourth in long jump, while Hurst did so in the 400. The Dragons are back in action Tuesday at Connersville for another four-way meet, this one including Southport and Rushville.
