Baseball falls to Batesville

The New Palestine baseball team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, falling 7-0 at Batesville. The Dragons' biggest threat came in the third, when they loaded the bases with none out as Henry Thorpe was hit by a pitch, Brayden Marrow drew a walk and Ben Morwick singled to right. But a popout, short flyball and stikeout ended the threat. Morwick had two singles, drew a walk and stole two bases to lead the Dragons' offense. Thorpe also had a single. Batesville scored five runs in the first two innings and added two in the sixth. The Dragons (2-1) are next in action Monday at Perry Meridian.
