The New Palestine boys volleyball team used a big rally to start the match Thursday, and another big one to finish the second set, en route to a 25-12, 27-25, 25-22 victory over visiting Lawrence North. The Dragons improved to 4-7 with the victory. The Dragons jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the opening set and never looked back, rolling to a 25-12 victory. In the second set, the Dragons trailed throughout, falling behind 24-15. Facing 10 match points, the Dragons ripped off nine straight points on Daysen Wood's serve. After a violation gave the Wildcats the opportunity to serve for the set up 25-24, the Dragons rallied to score the next three and win. In the third set, the Dragons built a comfortable 21-12 lead before a late LN rally closed the score before the Dragons won 25-22. Jake Cwikla led the Dragons with nine kills and 10 digs. Jaxon Hinkle added five kills. James O'Dell had four kills and six digs. Carter Hacker also added four kills. Maguire Gross tallied 14 digs. Aaron Smith had seven digs. Kameron Engle had 25 assists. The Dragons next play Tuesday at home against Martinsville.
