Boys track third in HHC

The New Palestine boys track and field team finished third in the Hoosier Heritage Conference meet Thursday at Mt. Vernon, with Paxton Holmes winning a conference title in the 300 hurdles. The Dragons tallied 94.5 points. Mt. Vernon (164) won the conference title, with Greenfield-Central (98) second. The Dragons finished ahead of Yorktown (94.5), Delta (65.5), Pendleton Heights (58), New Castle (25) and Shelbyville (24). Holmes ran the 300 hurdles in 40.92 to win the title by nearly a half-second. Finishing second were Eli Wasson in the 100 (11.51) and 200 (22.95) and Quinn Crawmer in the pole vault (14-0). Also finishing second were the 4x800 relay of Gavin Smith, Charlie Rigsbee, Brayden Anderson and Jake Cooper, and hte 4x100 relay of Holmes, Wasson, Will Bardonner and Colton Spears. Placing third were Rigsbee in the 400, Cooper in the 800 and Spears in the high jump. The Dragons next compete in the May 22 sectional at Greenfield-Central.
