Tennis goes the distance in victory over G-C

On a hot day, the New Palestine girls tennis team pulled ahead in three three-set matches to beat Greenfield-Central 5-0 Thursday at G-C. The Dragons made quick work at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, as Bethany Blachly won 6-2, 6-3 and Kaitlyn Mitchell won 6-0, 6-0. At No. 1 doubles, Maizy Haynes/Riley Watts rallied to win 5-7, 6-0, 6-3. At No. 2 doubles, Alyssa Appleby/Elliott Graham won a third-set tiebreaker 6-0, 3-6, 7-6(2). At No. 1 singles, Arabella Deisher rallied in the day's longest match, winning 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. The Dragons are now 10-4 on the season and 4-2 in Hoosier Heritage Conference play. They visit Pendleton Heights Friday.
