Softball keeps rolling with 11-0 victory

The New Palestine softball team produced its third consecutive mercy rule victory Monday, beating New Castle 11-0. The Dragpns scored three runs in each of the first three innings and added two more in the fifth. Katie Hirschy drove in five runs on the day, hitting a three-run homer and going 1-for-3. Jersi Gross was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Lauren Wagoner was 2-for-3 with a run, a double and an RBI. Maddie Engle was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Kenna Tweedy was 2-for-4 with a double. Lyndsay Goodin was 1-for-2. Callie Cromwell was 1-for-2 with a double, a run and an RBI. Sadey Hughbanks pitched a perfect 1 2/3 innings, striking out three of the five batters she faced. Kenna Tweedy then allowed one hit over 3 1/3 innings, striking out three. The duo faced one more than the minimum. The Class 3A No. 1 Dragons are now 19-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play. They next play Wednesday at Fishers.
