The New Palestine girls tennis team swept the doubles Friday to earn a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Shelbyville on Senior Day. Maizy Haynes/Riley Watts won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles, Elliott Graham/Alyssa Appleby won 6-2, 6-4. Kaitlyn Mitchell won a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 3 singles. The Dragons suffered losses at No. 1 singles, where Arabella Deisher fell 6-1, 3-6, 6-2; and at No. 2 singles, where Bethany Blachly dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision. The Dragons are next in action Saturday at the Franklin Invitational.
