New Palestine High School

The New Palestine boys volleyball team opened its season Monday with a 25-18, 25-21, 25-20 loss at Covenant Christian. The Dragons used a strong mid-set rally in the first set, but Covenant was able to finish it off. The Dragons then jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the second set on a serving run by Jake Cwikla before a mid-set rally by the Warriors. Cwikla had nine kills, three blocks, three digs and three aces. Jaxon Hinkle added three kills and four aces. Eli Greene had two blocks. Kameron Engle added 16 assists and three aces. Eli Martin led the defense with 11 digs. The Dragons (0-1) open the home schedule Tuesday against Southport, with a "C" team match to begin at 5 p.m., followed by the JV and varsity.
