The New Palestine baseball team used a nine-run third inning Monday to surge to a 12-0 five-inning victory over Knightstown. The Dragons hit three homers in the game and never trailed. Jesse Isaacs earned the win with four shutout innings, allowing five hits and striking out seven. Carsyn Baker threw a perfect fifth with one strikeout to end the game. Isaacs, Jackson Kamp and Jacob Morris all homered in the game, as six of the Dragons' nine hits went for extra bases. Isaacs pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the first, then immediately was able to pitch with a lead, as Gavin Neal doubled and was along for the ride on Morris' homer to left. Isaacs then helped his own cause, leading off the second with a solo homer. The Dragons exploded in the third. Kingston Hedges led off with a single, and back-to-back walks to Liam Atkinson and Baker loaded the bases. Eli Whiteside hit a two-run double. After a walk to Rigg Mahurin, Neal followed with his second double of the game, clearing the bases and putting the Dragons up 8-0. Morris added an RBI single and Kamp a two-run homer. Hedges again singled and later scored on Baker's sacrifice fly. Neal was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and three RBI. Morris was 2-for-2 with a homer, two runs and three RBI. Hedges was 2-for-3 with two runs. Whiteside was 1-for-2 with a double, a run and two RBI. Kamp was 1-for-2 with a two-run homer and Isaacs 1-for-3 with a solo homer. The Dragons improved to 9-2 with the victory. They are next in action Tuesday at Greenfield-Central.
