Wasson smashes 21-year-old mark in Senior Night victory

Eli Wasson broke a 21-year-old school record Thursday on Senior Night as the New Palestine track teams swept Pendleton Heights at Kelso Stadium. Wasson broke the school record in the 100 with a time of 10.86. That broke Chris Grider's record of 10.91, which had stood since 2004. It's Wasson's second school record in three days - he also broke the 200 mark Tuesday. The Dragons boys won 88-44 over PH. The Dragons girls won 84-48. In addition to Wasson's record mark, he also won the 200 (22.50). Other winners for the Dragons boys were Paxton Holmes in the 110 hurdles (15.32) and 300 hurdles (41.28), Landon Seib in the shot put (40-10) and discus (122-5), Mike Bauer in the 1600 (4:43.93), Jake Cooper in the 800 (1:59.96), Colton Spears in the high jump (5-10), Quinn Crawmer in the pole vault (12-0), the 4x800 relay of Gavin Smith, Brayden Anderson, Zion Koch and Charlie Rigsbee (8:41.53), the 4x100 relay of Holmes, Bryce Neuner, Will Bardonner and Spears (44.57), and the 4x400 relay of Rigsbee, Cooper, Smith and Dylan Dragoo (3:35.81). Finishing second were Bauer in the 400, Bardonner in the 300 hurdles, Holmes in the 200, Ryan Cain in pole vault and Colin Whetsel in the shot put. Winners for the Dragons girls were Maddy Brooks in the 100 hurdles (17.61), Rylee Hurst in the 100 (12.72), Justice Tweedy in the 300 hurdles (51.58), Bri Journay in the 800 (2:40.87), Abby Journay in the 200 (26.20), Hailey Pardieck in the 3200 (11:10.03), Savannah Baird in pole vault (9-0), Cadyn Brown in discus (96-8), the 4x800 relay of Bri Journay, Margaret Barrett, Olivia Weaver and Pardieck (10:16.89), and the 4x400 relay of Hurst, Bri Journay, McKenzie Hacker and Abby Journay (4:17.36). Finishing second were Caylee Brown in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Evelyn Kell in the 1600 and 3200, Barrett in the 800, Abby Journay in the high jump, Lilly Madden in pole vault and Lillie Abernathy in shot put. The Dragons' dual meet season is now complete. Their invitational season begins May 2 at the Zionsville Invitational.
