Gymnastics advances to State Finals

The New Palestine gymnastics team clinched a spot in the IHSAA State Finals Friday, scoring a season-high 105.9 to finish third at Friday's Franklin Central regional at The Gymnastics Company in Indianapolis. The Dragons will compete as a team in next Saturday's State Finals at Ball State's Worthen Arena. Bloomington North won the regional title with a score of 108.625. Columbus North tallied 107.475 and the Dragons finished third in the six-team regional. Bloomington South (103.3), New Castle (100.8) and Rushville (93.675) were the final three placers. The top three teams advance to the State Finals. J.J. Fee finished third in the all-around with a score of 36.825. Lynzie Stiller was 11th (34.225). Fee placed third on floor (9.55), with Stiller 12th (9.125) and Addy Kendall 14th (9.0). On balance beam, Fee also placed third (9.45), with Kendall ninth (8.825) and Stiller 16th (8.425). On vault, Fee finished fourth (9.35), with Olivia Frank 18th (8.7) and Stiller 20th (8.65). Fee placed ninth on uneven bars to lead the Dragons, scoring 8.475. Kendall was 12th (8.325) and Stiller 15th (8.025). The State Finals will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11 with the opening ceremonies, with competition beginning at 11:45 a.m. at Worthen Arena.
