New Palestine freshman Gunner Butt finished sixth and sophomore Bryce Doss eighth at Saturday's IHSAA wrestling State Finals. Butt finished his freshman campaign 28-10. After Friday's 5-4 win over Mishawaka's Xavier Chavez, he began Saturday with a 12-4 loss to Delta's Ayden Bollinger. He won teh consolation semifinal 8-3 over Milan's Matt Baylor before a 4-2 overtime loss to Lake Central's Mason Jones in the fifth-place match at 106. At 120, Doss finished the season with a 28-5 record and a semistate championship. After Friday's pin of Cascade's Logan Bickel, he lost an 8-0 decision to Delta's Neal Mosier in Saturday's quarterfinal round. He then lost by fall to Garrett's Carter Fielden in 2:14 and by a 12-1 decision to Evansville Mater Dei's Isaiah Schaefer.
