Gymnastics wins third straight sectional title

The New Palestine gymnastics team rolled to its third straight sectional championship Saturday at Connersville, scoring 105.4 points to claim the title. The Dragons finished ahead of New Castle (98.65), Connersville (97.3) and the rest of the field in the 13-team sectional. All three teams will advance to Friday's regional at The Gymnastics Company. Lexi Hall was the all-around sectional champion and the Dragons won three of the four events. Hall scored 35.225 to win the all-around, while J.J. Fee scored 34.925 and finished second. Lynzie Stiller (34.075) was fourth. Hall won the vault with a score of 9.05. Olivia Frank was third (8.85), Stiller fourth (8.75) and Fee sixth (8.6). Hall also won on uneven bars with a score of 8.675. Stiller (8.625) and Fee (8.35) completed a 1-2-3 sweep for the Dragons. Frank was sixth (8.15). Fee won the balance beam title with a score of 8.9, leading another 1-2-3 sweep, with Kalle Jones second (8.625) and Hall third (8.5). On floor, Fee finished second (9.075), with Hall and Stiller tied for third (9.0). The title was the 13th sectional championship in school history.
