The New Palestine boys swimming and diving team had a successful night in Thursday's sectional prelims, setting two school records and advancing 25 of 27 swims to the finals. The Dragons began the day by setting the record in the 200 medley relay, as Dawson Lynch, Blake Hurst, Jake Myers and James Watson finished with the top seed and a time of 1:40.45. Lynch also set the record in the 100 backstroke, as he finished second in 55.21 seconds. In addition to the 200 medley relay finishing first, the 200 free relay of Watson, Myers, Luke Appleby and Ashton Turner also finished first. The Dragons will have 18 swims in the finals and seven in the consolations Saturday. In three events - the 200 IM, 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke - the Dragons will have three swimmers in the finals. The top eight in each event from the prelims will swim in Saturday's finals at the NPHS Natatorium, while positions 9-16 will swim in the consolation finals.
