Boys swim wins regular season finale

The New Palestine boys swimming and diving team finished the regular season with an 11-1 record Tuesday, sweeping Shelbyville and Lawrence Central. The Dragons beat Shelbyville 73-29 and Lawrence Central 80-22. Winners for the Dragons were Dawson Lynch in the 200 free (2:00.93), Blake Hurst in the 200 IM (2:22.89), Aidan Stephens in diving (177.55), James Watson in the 500 free (5:40.19), the 200 free relay of Lynch, Ashton Turner, Jake Myers and Liam Fuller (1:41.38) and the 400 free relay of Watson, Aidan Kingery, Fuller and Chase Martin (3:44.31). Finishing second were Luke Appleby in the 200 free, Quinn Crawmer in the 200 IM, Fuller in the 50 free, Cade Rodgers in diving, Kingery in the 100 free, Reese Cox in the 500 free, Ian Erwin in the 100 backstroke, Blake Hurst in the 100 breaststroke, the 200 medley relay team of Karter McNeil, Martin, Hurst and Kingery, and the 400 free relay team of Lynch, McNeil, Myers and Turner. Individuals finishing third were McNeil in the 50 free, Daxton Gibson in diving, Myers in the 100 butterfly, Appleby in the 100 free, Martin in the 100 back and Dontae Thompson in the 100 breaststroke. The Dragons next compete Feb. 16 and 18 in the New Palestine sectional.
