Boys swimming sweeps Royals, Woodmen

The New Palestine boys swimming and diving team improved to 9-1 on the season Monday with a triangular meet victory over Roncalli and Greenwood. The Dragons defeated Roncalli 83-18 and Greenwood 71-30. Individual winners for the Dragons were Dontae Thompson in the 200 free (2:03.60), Ian Erwin in the 50 free (24.31), Aidan Stephens in diving (163.35), James Watson in the 100 free (54.82), Karter McNeil in the 500 free (5:40.19) and Aidan Kingery in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.04). The Dragons swept the relays. Dawson Lynch, Kingery, Liam Fuller and Chase Martin won the 200 medley relay (1:51.30). Thompson, Lynch, Fuller and Martin won the 200 free relay (1:37.81) and Watson, Ashton Turner, Erwin and Thompson won the 400 free relay (3;45.48). Individuals finishing second for the Dragons were Turner in the 200 free, Lynch in the 200 IM, Cade Rodgers in diving, Fuller in the 100 butterfly, Erwin in the 500 free and Reese Cox in the 100 breaststroke. Individuals finishing third were Jake Myers in the 200 IM, Watson in the 50 free and Martin in the 100 free. The Dragons finish the regular season Tuesday at home against Lawrence Central and Shelbyville.
