Gymnasts top century mark to win home opener

The New Palestine gymnastics team won its home opener Thursday, tallying 100.075 points to beat Shelbyville (66.2) and Lutheran (15.85). J.J. Fee was the all-around winner, tallying 35.075 points and winning on bars, beam and floor. Lynzie Stiller (32.55) was second and Olivia Frank (31.7) third. On floor, the Dragons too, the top four spots. Fee won with 9.375, with Frank (8.75) second and Stiller (8.175) third. Addy Kendall finished fourth (8.05) and Chaira Polo sixth (7.45). On beam, Fee won with 9.275, with Stiller (8.325) second. Polo was fourth (8.0) and Frank fifth (7.65). On bars, Fee won with 8.425, with Stiller third (7.725), Frank fourth (6.975), Rebecca Johnson fifth (6.225) and Kendall sixth (5.675). Johnson won on vault with an 8.4 score. Frank and Stiller tied for second (8.325). Emily Hunter was fourth (8.1) and Fee fifth (8.0). The Dragons are now 3-0. They next compete Saturday at the Valparaiso Viking Invitational.
