Gymnasts win season opener at Connersville

The New Palestine gymnastics team won its season opener Thursday, defeating host Connersville 97.475-88.2. J.J. Fee was the all-around winner, posting a score of 33.25. She won the floor exercise (9.175), balance beam (7.55) and uneven bars (8.475). She also scored 8.05 on vault. Olivia Frank was second in the all-around (31.675), placing second on floor (8.575), third on bars (7.8), sixth on vault (8.2) and tying for sixth on beam (7.1). Addy Kendall was third in the all-around (31.225), placing second on bars (8.325), fifthon floor (7.75), tying for sixth on beam (7.1) and scoring an 8.05 on vault. Lynzie Stiller finished fourth in the all-around (30.975), finishing third on vault (8.325), third on beam (7.45), fourth on bars (7.6) and sixth on floor (7.6) Fee, Kendall, Frank and Stiller swept the top four spots on bars. On floor, Fee and Frank were 1-2. Reagan Seal was fourth (7.825), Kendall fifth and Stiller sixth. On beam, Fee was first, Stiller third, Chaira Polo fourth (7.425) and Frank and Kendall tied for sixth. On vault, Stiller was third, Rebecca Johnson fourth (8.3), Emily Hunter fifth (8.25) and Frank sixth. The Dragons are next in action Thursday when they host Shelbyville, Waldron and Lutheran in a 6 p.m. meet at New Palestine Elementary.
