Swimmers sweep Beech Grove

The New Palestine boys swimming and diving team swept all 12 events Tuesday en route to a 151-12 victory over Beech Grove. The Dragons girls won 10 events in winning 135-42. Winners for the Dragons girls were Olivia Melangton in the 200 free (2:28.86) and 100 backstroke (1:23.08), Adrianna Huston in the 50 free (27.52), Ava Tuley in diving (154.15), Katelyn Trimpe in the 100 butterfly (1:18.41), Chloe Siler in the 100 free (1:03.65), Sullie Leavell in the 500 free (6:11.07), the 200 medley relay of Huston, Lillie Abernathy, Trimpe and Kyleigh Turner (2:10.25), the 200 free relay of Trimpe, Claire Lake, Melangton and Cadyn Brown (1:58.95) and the 400 free relay of Siler, Lake, Rachel Hamilton and Leavell (4:17.18). Finishing second were Siler in the 200 IM, Abernathy in the 50 free, Lauren Appleby in diving, Isabelle Singer in teh 100 butterfly, Brown in the 100 free, Hamilton in the 500 free, Arianna Tull in the 100 backstroke, Leavell in the 100 breaststroke, the 200 medley relay team of Emma Snyder, Leavell, Siler and Hamilton, the 200 free relay team of Abernathy, Rachel Wright, Hamilton and Turner and the 400 free relay team of Trimpe, Hanna Stone, Melangton and Huston. Winners for the Dragons boys were Reese Cox in the 200 free (2:09.54), Dontae Thompson in the 200 IM (2:24.41) and 100 backstroke (1:09.92), Dawson Lynch in the 50 free (24.72), Aidan Stephens in diving (164.25), Ian Erwin in the 100 butterfly (1:05.77), Jake Myers in the 100 free ()56.88), Ashton Turner in the 500 free (6:14.37), James Watson in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.09), the 200 medley relay team of Liam Fuller, Cox, Thompson and Luke Bartusek (1:59.47), the 200 free relay team of Stephens, Karter McNeil, Myers and Fuller (1:48.14) and the 400 free relay team of Thompson, Aidan Kingery, Blake Hurst and Fuller (3:47.34). Finishing second were Hurst in the 200 free and 100 buttterfly, Erwin in the 200 IM, Turner in the 50 free, Cade Rodgers in diving, Cox in the 100 free, Bartusek in the 500 free, McNeil in the 100 backstroke, Fuller in the 100 breaststroke, the 200 medley relay team of Kingery, Lynch, Watson and Kaden Curran, the 200 free relay team of Rodgers, Lynch, Hurst and Turner and the 400 free relay team of McNeil, Lynch, Appleby and Watson. The Dragons boys are now 6-1 on the season, while the girls are 5-6. Both teams are back in action Jan. 19 at home against Connersville.
