Tull sets school record as girls swim finishes fifth in HHC

Sophomore Isabelle Tull set a school record in diving, leading the New Palestine girls swimming and diving team to a fifth-place finish at Saturday's Hoosier Heritage Conference meet at Shelbyville. Tull posted an 11-dive score of 345.75 to win the conference title and lead the Dragons' delegation. The Dragons tallied 232 points to finish fifth. Greenfield-Central (488), Delta (403) and Yorktown (290) took the top three spots. The Dragons were four points back of fourth-place Mt. Vernon, while finishing ahead of Shelbyville (176), Pendleton Heights (144) and New Castle (113). Chloe Siler finished third in the 50 freestyle (24.37) and fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:02.04). Both times were second-best in school history. Lillie Abernathy finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke. Ireland Armstrong was eighth in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Katie Kelley placed eighth in diving. The 200 medley relay team of Armstrong, Abernathy, Siler and Rachel Hamilton finished fourth. Their time of 1:57.73 was seventh-best in school history. The 200 free relay team of Abernathy, Cadyn Brown, Hamilton and Siler was also fourth. The 400 free relay team of Isabelle Singer, Piper Schaefer, Ansley Tucker and Armstrong finished seventh. The next meet for the Dragons girls will be Jan. 16 at home against Shelbyville.
