Girls wrestling third at Whiteland

The New Palestine girls wrestling team placed third out of 14 teams at the Whiteland Warrior Winter Classic Saturday, tallying 180 points. Columbus East (257.5) and Whiteland (244.5) were the top two teams. The Dragons had two champions. June Wagner-Gilbert won the title at 130 and Jillian Champ won at 140. At 170, Reagan Fortier won her bracket and finished second overall. Calie Means finished second in her bracket at 115 and tied for third overall. Julia Champ finished fourth at 155. Lillian Kissel and Ella Morris both finished seventh. The Dragons next compete in the Jan. 3 IHSAA sectional at Muncie Central.
