Swimmers sweep Trojans, Golden Eagles

The New Palestine swimming and diving teams swept a triangular meet Thursday at New Castle. The Dragons girls beat New Castle 110-57 and Guerin 99-63. The Dragons boys beat New Castle 97-76 and Guerin 110-48. Winners for the Dragons girls were Lillie Abernathy in the 50 freestyle (27.85), Chloe Siler in the 100 butterfly (1:05.53), Cadyn Brown in the 100 freestyle (1:04.45), the 200 medley relay team of Ireland Armstrong, Abernathy, Siler and Rachel Hamilton (2:02.80). the 200 free relay team of Siler, Hamilton, Hanna Stone and Brown (1:55.49) and the 400 free relay team of Brown, Piper Schaefer, Abernathy and Armstrong (4:21.55). Finishing second were Brown in the 200 freestyle, Isabelle Singer in the 200 IM, Jozlynn Hart in the 50 freestyle, Abernathy in the 500 freestyle and Stone in the 100 breaststroke. Winners for the Dragons boys were Ashton Turner in the 50 freestyle (24.74), Aidan Stephens in diving (156.05), James Watson in the 100 freestyle (51.89), Dawson Lynch in the 100 backstroke (58.48), the 200 medley relay team of Lynch, Blake Hurst, Jake Myers and Watson (1:46.70) and the 200 free relay team of Karter McNeil, Turner, Luke Appleby and Watson (1:36.32). Finishing second were Hurst in the 50 freestyle, Camden Rodgers in diving, Reese Cox in the 100 butterfly, Sam Dobbins in the 500 freestyle and the 400 free relay team of McNeil, Lynch, Myers and Turner. The Dragons boys are now 6-1 and the girls are 6-3. Both teams next compete Dec. 28 in a dual meet at Franklin Central.
