New Palestine High School

The New Palestine girls basketball team staged a furious fourth-quarter rally, but fell short 50-43 to Guerin Catholic Wednesday evening. The Dragons trailed 42-23 going into the final quarter and scored 20 points in the final frame, but were unable to complete the comeback. Tylar Whitake rand Gabbie Brown each scored five points in the quarter, while Sadey Hughbanks scored six. The Dragons trailed 15-10 after one and 30-20 at the break. Eight different Dragons scored. Brown led the Dragons with 10 points. Hughbanks added eight. Kylee Beranek scored six, Whitaker five, Haven Flagle and Brooklyn Crim four each, while Kenna Tweedy and Kendra Moore each scored three. The Dragons are now 5-7. They next play Jan. 2 at Franklin County.
