Swimmers sweep Arabians

The New Palestine swimming and diving teams swept Pendleton Heights in a dual meet Tuesday. The Dragons girls won 103-75, while the boys won a tight 94-89 meet which wasn't clinched until the 400 free relay team of Jake Myers, Luke Appleby, Karter McNeil and James Watson won the 4x400 relay by 0.72 seconds. Their winning time was 3:37.28. Other winners for the Dragons boys were Dawson Lynch in the 100 butterfly (59.24). James Watson in the 500 free (5:33.48) and the 200 free relay of McNeil, Appleby, Myers and Watson (1:38.37). Finishing second were Luke Appleby in the 200 freestyle, Lynch in the 200 IM, Watson in the 50 free, Reese Cox in the 100 backstroke, McNeil in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 medley relay team of Lynch, Blake Hurst, Cox and Watson. For the Dragons girls, Chloe Siler (25.90) led a 1-2-3 finish in the 50 freestyle, with Cadyn Brown finishing second and Rachel Hamilton third. Siler (1:00.08), Hamilton and Hanna Stone were 1-2-3 in the 100 freestyle. Other winners were Isabelle Tull in diving (188.30), Lillie Abernathy in the 100 butterfly (1:05.54) and 100 breaststroke (1:13.77), the 200 free relay of Ireland Armstrong, Abernathy, Hamilton and Siler (1:52.35). Finishing second were Isabelle Singer in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, Ireland Armstrong in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, Piper Schaefer in the 100 breaststoke and the 400 free relay team of Brown, Madi Bard, Singer and Stone. The Dragons boys are now 4-1 on the season and the girls are 4-3. Both teams are next in action Thursday at New Castle.
