Swim teams split with Falcons

The New Palestine swimming and diving teams split a dual meet Thursday at Perry Meridian. The Dragons boys won 116-67, while the girls fell 107-77. Luke Appleby (2:18.76) led a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 IM with Jake Myers and Blake Hurst. The Dragons also finished 1-2-3 in the 100 free, with James Watson (51.65), Dawson Lynch and Ashton Turner taking the podium. Other winners for the Dragons boys were Appleby in the 100 butterfly (1:00.97), Karter McNeil in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.56), the 200 medley relay of Reese Cox, Hurst, McNeil and Myers (1:49.25), the 200 free relay of Lynch, McNeil, Turner and Watson (1:37.18) and the 400 free relay of Lynch, Turner, Myers and Watson (3:42.86). Finishing second were Watson in the 200 free, Cox in the 50 free and 500 free, Aidan Stephens in diving, McNeil in the 100 butterfly and Myers in the 100 backstroke. Winners for the Dragons girls were Chloe Siler in the 200 free (2:13.40), Isabelle Tull in diving (200.60) and Ireland Armstrong in the 500 free (6:21.31). Finishing second were Lillie Abernathy in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, Piper Schaefer in the 100 breaststroke, Armstrong in the 50 free, Siler in the 100 free, the 200 free relay of Schaefer, Abernathy, Rachel Hamilton and Siler and the 400 free relay of Armstrong, Hamilton, Abernathy and Siler. The Dragons are next in action Monday at home against Greenfield-Central.
