The New Palestine boys wrestling team won a tight 36-32 decision Wednesday over Mt. Vernon. With the Dragons trailing 32-30 going into the final match and needing a win, Tyler Lavin pinned his opponent in 50 seconds at 126 to clinch the victory. The Dragons won six of the 14 matches, but all six were by fall to clinch the victory. Lavin's clinching pin was the fastest of the night. Cole Vandygriff (113), Gunner Butt (106) and Shaun Glass (195) all also won by first-period fall. Elijah Alonso (138) and Colin Whetsel (182) pinned their opponents in the second period. The Dragons are now 6-7 in dual meets this season. They next compete Dec. 29 at the Connersville Spartan Classic. New Palestine 36, 3A No. 8 Mt.
