New Palestine High School

The New Palestine girls basketball team had a strong second half Tuesday, but fell 44-26 at 4A No. 9 Franklin Central. The Dragons trailed 12-3 after a quarter and 23-9 at the half. Kylee Beranek and Gabbie Brown led the Dragons with four points each in the opening half of play. In the third quarter, the Dragons tallied seven points and trailed 34-16. Sadey Hughbanks tallied four. In the fourth, Hughbanks and Kenna Tweedy each scored five points as the Dragons played even with the Flashes for the final eight minutes. Hughbanks led the Dragons with nine points, all in the second half. Beranek and Tweedy each scored five. Brown tallied four points. Kendra Moore added two and Haven Flagle one. The Dragons (2-2) are back in action Thursday at home against Warren Central.
