Swimmers win six events at East Central Relays

The New Palestine swimming and diving teams each won three events Saturday to post strong finishes at the East Central Relays. The Dragons boys tallied 86 points to finish second to East Central, which scored 92. The Dragons were well ahead of third-place Greenwood (38) and fourth-place Ross (Ohio) (31). The Dragons girls scored 60 points to finish third. East Central won with 78 points, with Greenwood finishing second with 65. The Dragons finished well ahead of fourth-place Connersville, which had 30. The Dragons boys won three events and finished second in seven others. James Watson and Dawson Lynch teamed up to win the 1000 free relay in 11:11.28. Ian Erwin, Chase Martin, Liam Fuller and Dontae Thompson won the 200 free realy in 1:37.17. Martin, Blake Hurst and Aidan Kingery won the 150 breaststroke relay in 1:33.69. Finishing second were the 200 medley relay of Jake Myers, Kingery, Reese Cox and Watson; the 100 free relay of Fuller, Erwin, Thompson and Martin; the 400 medley relay of Cox, Hurst and Kingery; the 375 crescendo relay of Hurst, Quinn Crawmer, Ashton Turner and Karter McNeil; the 150 butterfly relay of Lynch, Myers and Fuller; the 150 backstroke relay of Cox, Myers and Lynch; and the 400 free relay of Thompson, Turner, Erwin and Watson. The Dragons girls also had three victorious relays, starting with the 100 free relay of Sullie Leavell, Chloe Siler, Kyleigh Turner and Adrianna Huston, who posted a time of 50.26 early in the meet. Leavell, Lillie Abernathy and Siler won the 150 butterfly relay in 1:29.50. Leavell, Siler, Katelyn Trimpe and Huston capped the meet with a win in the 400 free relay in 4:00.15. Finishing second were Trimpe and Huston in the 1000 free relay, as well as Emma Snyder, Rachel Hamilton, Trimpe and Turner in the 200 free relay. Hamilton, Claire Lake and Snyder finished third in the 150 backstroke relay. The Dragons are next in action Tuesday at Pendleton Heights.
