Swimmers suffer narrow losses

The New Palestine swimming and diving teams both suffered narrow losses to Mt. Vernon Tuesday at the NPHS natatorium. The Dragons girls dropped a 98-87 meet, while the boys fell 103-82 to the Marauders. Winners for the Dragons girls were Chloe Siler in the 50 freestyle (26.60), Katelyn Trimpe in the 500 freestyle (6:04.45) and the 200 free relay of Sullie Leavell, Kyleigh Turner, Siler and Adrianna Huston (1:49.47). Individuals finishing second were Huston in the 200 free and 100 free, Leavell in the 200 IM, Ava Tuley in diving, Siler in the 100 butterfly, Trimpe in the 100 backstroke and Madalyn Bard in the 100 breaststroke. The Dragons boys were led by two winners - Dawson Lynch in the 500 freestyle (5:35.07) and Aidan Stephens in diving (174.50). Individuals finishing second for the Dragons boys were Lynch in the 200 IM, Liam Fuller in the 50 freestyle and Aidan Kingery in the 100 breaststroke. The Dragons girls are now 3-4 on the season, while the boys are 2-1. Both teams are back in action Thursday in a road meet against New Castle and Eastern Hancock.
