Boys swimmers down Perry Meridian, girls drop tight meet

The New Palestine boys swimming and diving team improved to 2-0 on the season Thursday with a 124-61 victory over Perry Meridian. The Dragons girls dropped a close 102-81 decision. Individual winners for the Dragons boys were Ian Erwin in the 200 freestyle (2:02.09), Jake Myers in the 200 IM (2:22.25), Liam Fuller in the 100 freestyle (56.48), Dawson Lynch in the 100 backstroke (1:00.47) and Chase Martin in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.29). Also winning were the 200 medley relay of Myers, Aidan Kingery, Fuller and Dontae Thompson (1:52.65), the 200 free relay of Erwin, Martin, Fuller and Thompson (1:40.81) and the 400 free relay of Erwin, James Watson, Ashton Turner and Fuller (3:46.89). Individual seconds went to Thompson in the 50 freestyle, Daxton Gibson in diving, Erwin in the 100 butterfly and Watson in the 500 freestyle. Winners for the Dragons girls were Adrianna Huston in the 500 free (6:08.46) and the 200 free relay of Lillie Abernathy, Katelyn Trimpe, Chloe Siler and Sullie Leavell (1:50.50). Individual second-place finishes went to Trimpe in the 200 free and 100 backstroke, Ava Tuley in diving, Siler in the 100 free and Madalyn Bard in the 100 breaststroke. The Dragons boys are now 2-0 on the season. The girls are 3-3. The Dragons are next in action at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at home against Mt. Vernon.
